Imaginary Sound Landscape

Trier, 2024

At the inaugural event of SúnPoíēsis: From Ego- to Eco-Centrism through Art, elena victoria pastor captivates the audience with her evocative performance piece, The Tree That Falls in the Forest. Using her deep musical background, pastor weaves an immersive soundscape that explores the hidden, intricate web of relationships within our environment—those that extend beyond the limits of human perception.

Through free improvisation and haunting vocalizations, she transports the audience into the depths of the Amazon. Here, she conjures an imaginary sonic landscape, invoking the unseen forces that shape the delicate fabric of our world. The performance asks us to contemplate the limits of our understanding and challenges us to perceive the interconnectedness of life, not only with our minds but with our spirits—beyond the boundaries of human cognition.

Pastor's work invites reflection on the infinite relationships that shape our existence, interspecies connections often unnoticed, yet ever-present. Even when human eyes are absent, the reverberations of life persist. Could it be that these deep ties are not meant to be understood by the mind, but rather felt by the spirit? Through sound, she invites us to embrace a more profound sense of interconnectedness—one that transcends the constraints of ego, memory, and intellect.

SúnPoíēsis: From Ego- to Eco-Centrism through Art at Kunsthalle Trier from 7 March to 7 April 2024. The curatorial initiative by Sabina Oroshi.
