Set on stone

Performance at Falkensteinkirche with Frottage Technique

Austria, 2024.
Human history has long been told through images etched into rock, reshaped and reinterpreted over millennia. But what if we weren't the only storytellers? What if we explored other perspectives—from the traces of other species, elements, and matter? Inspired by the legend of pilgrims purifying themselves in the natural stone grotto of Falkensteinkirche, Elena Victoria embarks on a journey through the Schliefstein, recording its history, textures, and the countless pilgrims who've passed through. Using the frottage technique on paper, she captures this dialogue with nature, pondering the language of the earth.
